This review is from: Traxxas Revo 3.3 4WD RTR Monster Truck with 2.4Ghz Radio (Toy)
We bought this so that when our grandchildren come over we can go outside with them and have some fun. They love it but are still too young to operate it. We love it too, it is fast and fun. Best part though is that it was very easy to get it going. We had some r/c gas cars many years ago and they were a lot of work to get going and to maintain. This Traxxas Revo was as painless as it could be. Get the right fuel, charge the batteries and use the built-in electric starter to fire it up. Break it in per the instructions and then once broken in, it screams. Very fast, easy to operate and runs quite awhile on a tank of fuel. Overall we cannot find anything wrong or anything we disliked.

Buying gas rc trucks can be a bit overwhelming to someone new to this hobby. There are almost unlimited choices. You can go to a local hobby shop, order from a seller in the back of a magazine, get one from a online store, or from a someone on ebay. But, who do you trust? Good question, and one many people ask themselves when they buy anything.

It can take a lot of research trying to find a reputable seller, and this also means time. Most people these days will do their information gathering online. Google can be a valuable tool getting up to speed on all the options available. That being said, one slight problem with this solution; It is so easy to get distracted. Yeah, you might start out looking for the best gas RC Trucks available… but next thing you know you are watching some clown trying to jump over his house on a BMX. 2 hours gone in a flash.

Hey your intentions were good, but it is so easy to get distracted. Don’t worry, it happens to all of us. Watching that guy smack off the side of his house never gets old. What is the solution? What is the best way to stay focused?

Here is my quick and dirty gas RC trucks research…

I go to two sites – Amazon & ebay. That’s it, these two sites will give you enough information to make a reasonable decision. Why these two sites? Simple – between them you could find pretty much find every gas RC truck on the market. It is staggering what you can find between both sites. And you can get both new, and used RC trucks. There is a option for every budget.

The major reason I like these sites is vendor reputation management. The customers get to review the seller, and let others know how the buying experience went. These ratings are from actual customers, and you get to see the good, bad and the ugly. If a seller is screwing over their customers, they will get hammered in the review section. And if it keeps up, then they will get kicked off the site. Good deal as far as I’m concerned.

On Amazon you also get to see the reviews of the trucks. Many of these reviews are straight to the point. Giving both pros, and cons. These type of reviews are extremely helpful, because it gives you a realistic expectation of what to expect if you were to buy an individual gas RC Truck. No product is perfect, and to find out the flaws is critical in you decision making. You want to see the short comings, and determine if it is something you can live with.

Are Gas RC Trucks OK for Beginners?

August 18, 2008

That question is not as easy to answer now as it used to be. For many people starting out, it was recommended to get an electric RC truck. They were easier to take care of, ran quiet and were usually ready to go right out-of-the-box. Many gas RC trucks used to come unassembled as kits. [...]

Why… What’s the Purpose of this Blog?

August 15, 2008

I probably have a similar story to many who get into this hobby. As a kid I got a radio controlled car for Christmas. You know the type… an inexpensive model from the local toy store. It was battery operated with a cheap pistol grip control. The range was very limited – maybe 100′ on [...]
